Workers in tough environments—such as construction sites—where normal mobile computers can be easily damaged might not only need a rugged handheld device for project management tasks, but also a printer to help with on-site documentation.

A big challenge with current devices now in use, explains Joan Rickards, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Two Technologies, www.2t.com, Horsham, Pa., is that the devices lack the ability to print on-site records and documents, but a new device solves that problem.

This device is the newest member of what the company identifies as “ultra-rugged” handheld devices. Called the N5Print, the weather-and-impact-resistant handheld Android™ computer device features print capability, and says the company, takes communications, data input, credit card transactions, photography, scanning, and on-the-spot printing to a higher level of in-field convenience and performance.

The N5Print runs the Android™ OS version 5.0, features a hot-swappable battery, three-channel magnetic stripe reader, Smart Card Reader, and a dedicated barcode scanner. A drop-in cradle with spare battery charger may be used for desktop or vehicle mounting. The device is IP65 rated and meets or exceeds MIL-STD 810G using method 516.6 and method 514.6 for both shock and vibration.

Using a rain-resistant 5.7-in, diagonal high-resolution 1080 X 1920 Super AMOLED display touchscreen, the N5Print’s on-screen keyboard offers full functionality for onsite data capture regardless of severe weather. The N5Print is designed to execute critical functions regardless of the primary application. Data can be uploaded even if other activities are being executed.
